In 2024, Daniel Jordan, the Barking Rapist, who sexually assaulted and strangled a woman in an alleyway behind a row of businesses in Barking, was sentenced to imprisonment. Daniel Jordan, 28, was identified through DNA analysis and was found to be a recognised offender.
In October 2022, Daniel Jordan perpetrated a brutal and prolonged assault in Barking, after which the victim had been receiving assistance from a team specialising in the investigation of sexual assaults. The assaulted woman contacted the police to report that she had been raped and that her assailant had escaped the scene.
The police promptly reacted and initiated the necessary procedures to assist the victim and collect crucial evidence.
She informed the cops that a man had accosted her and swiftly initiated a physically and sexually aggressive assault in an alleyway behind a row of stores on Longbridge Road. She recounted an incident in which he asphyxiated her, causing her to lose and regain consciousness.
Detective Sergeant Charlie Yexley, assigned to the Met Police’s east London division for the investigation of sexual offences, stated: “This was a heinous assault, and I hold the highest regard for the victim survivor, as she has endeavoured to reconcile with the severe violence she endured.”
“She has exhibited poise and resilience throughout this ordeal, and I trust it provides some solace that a jury unequivocally recognised this man for his true nature.”
Officers promptly apprehended him at his residence seven days post-attack. Daniel Jordan was indicted and detained the next day.
On March 15, Daniel Jordan was convicted at Snaresbrook Crown Court to 10 years of jail, accompanied by an extended licence period of five years, and a 30-month sentence for non-fatal strangling and assault.
Daniel Jordan will serve both terms simultaneously and will be registered as a sex offender for life. The woman has obtained assistance from a team specialist in the investigation of sexual offences.
