Barry Tatum, the Luton Paedophile, a 78-year-old man, has received a term for the sexual assault and abuse of numerous women and girls spanning three decades.
Barry Tatum, residing on Regis Road, attracted the notice of Bedfordshire Police in August 2017 following a report from one of the victims alleging sexual assault by him.
Subsequent to this revelation, the Protecting Vulnerable People (PVP) team initiated an investigation, resulting in Barry Tatum’s arrest.
As the investigation advanced, seven other victims of diverse ages emerged, alleging abuse that dates back to the late 1980s.
Barry Tatum was subsequently charged with 23 offences and, after a five-week trial at Luton Crown Court in August, was found guilty of 16 offences: five counts of indecent assault, six counts of sexual assault, three counts of sexual assault against a child under 13, and two counts of producing indecent images of a child.
Today, Barry Tatum was sentenced to ten years of incarceration, followed by an extra three years of supervised release.
He was issued a restraining order and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order after the judge characterised his conduct as a campaign of abuse for which he exhibited no remorse.
