In 2022, Angus Brooke, the Stevenage Sex Offender, a former physician has avoided incarceration after confessing to sexually assaulting a susceptible patient.
Angus Brooke, 50, dismissed the reception staff at the medical office to attend to the final patient of the day, and thereafter subjected her to abuse in the absence of witnesses.
He admitted guilt for instigating sexual conduct with an individual with a mental disability and was sentenced to seven months of jail, suspended for one year, at St Albans Crown Court.
Angus Brooke was mandated to compensate the victim £2,500, registered on the sexual offences register, and has to observe a curfew from 8 pm to 6 am every day. Should he violate these conditions, he may face incarceration.
Angus Brooke resided in Stevenage and was employed at the Knebworth and Marymead Medical Practice at the time of the incident.
The former physician, Angus Brooke, currently residing on Park Lane in Stockport, has been prohibited from practising medicine in the UK for the past five years, during which the General Medical Council has been conducting an investigation.
Arrests occurred as Just Stop Oil demonstrators ascended gantries above the M25. Detective Sergeant Helen Wise of Hertfordshire Constabulary stated: “Angus Brooke is an exceedingly manipulative and self-serving individual who exploited his status as a physician to earn the trust of a susceptible woman.”
The consequences of his acts have profoundly affected her, and I appreciate her courage in assisting our police inquiry. We exerted considerable effort to secure justice for her and ensure her protection from additional damage.
Angus Brooke was apprehended on May 3, 2019. He initially entered a plea of not guilty to the case, but subsequently altered his plea to guilty.
In early June 2017, the victim attended the procedure as the final appointment of the day.
Angus Brooke instructed the reception personnel to leave, informing them that he would terminate the surgery operations. He subsequently mistreated the woman.
The court was informed that during this period, Angus Brooke had been sending the woman text messages, coercing her to spend time with him.
Judge Sandeep Kainth stated: “You are Mr., rather than Doctor.” You perpetrated a significant and substantial violation of trust.
Your responsibility was to safeguard and aid individuals in distress, not to exploit them. You are evidently the architect of your own tragedy. You were fully aware of the victim’s vulnerabilities.
