Andrew Mackay, 64, lured a child into his residence in High Spen, near Gateshead, then provided them with booze and awaited their unconsciousness before perpetrating severe sexual attacks.
Following the victim’s courageous report of the event in September 2022, the Safeguarding Department of Northumbria Police promptly initiated an investigation.
Andrew Mackay faced two charges of rape and two charges of sexual assault.
The subsequent day, Andrew Mackay was apprehended and interrogated, disputing any wrongdoing.
Notwithstanding his persistent protestations during the trial, a jury convicted him on all four charges after a week-long hearing at Newcastle Crown Court in November.
Andrew Mackay appeared at the same court on Monday, January 6, where he received a 14-year term.
