In December 2025, the Offender Database reported that Akaash Ibra, 30, formerly of Paddock Lane, Halifax, was handed a significant 15-year sentence at Preston Crown Court. Ibra, who is now of no fixed address, was identified by the court as a “dangerous offender” following a predatory and calculated attack on a woman in Cliviger.
The court heard that in June 2023, Ibra lured his victim to a secluded car park on an isolated road. Once there, he drugged the woman to render her defenceless before raping her. Despite the overwhelming nature of the evidence, Ibra denied the charge and forced his victim to relive the trauma during a trial. Earlier in 2025, a jury at Preston Crown Court returned a unanimous guilty verdict for a single count of rape.
During the sentencing hearing on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the judge remarked on the premeditated nature of the crime, specifically the use of drugs to facilitate the assault. Under the Sentencing Act 2020, the judge designated Ibra as a “dangerous offender,” a classification used when there is a significant risk that the individual will commit further specified offences and cause serious harm to the public.
Akaash Ibra was sentenced to a total of 15 years in prison. This consists of 10 years of immediate custody and a five-year extended licence period. Under the current sentencing guidelines for dangerous offenders, Ibra is required to serve at least two-thirds (nearly seven years) of his custodial term behind bars before he is even eligible to apply for release through the Parole Board.
As a result of his conviction for rape, Ibra has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life. He was also handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) with lifetime conditions. Because he is of no fixed address, he will be managed under the highest level of Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) in Lancashire, ensuring that police and probation services maintain constant surveillance of his whereabouts and activities upon his eventual release.
