Adam Shellard, the Measham Rapist, was sentenced at Leicester Crown Court following his conviction in August for a total of ten crimes.

The outcome today (Friday, October 31, 2025), which resulted from a protracted and delicate police investigation spanning five years, is a testament to the persistence and diligence of the authorities.

Since 2020, specialised investigators have diligently collected crucial evidence about a series of sexual assaults perpetrated by the 27-year-old.

This commenced when both victims disclosed their experiences of abuse to two different individuals.

Following these revelations, in July and October of that year, the confessions were communicated to law enforcement.

Detective Constable Chris Sherwin and Anna Pulsford, from the specialised investigative team for rape and serious sexual offences, were designated as the officers for the case.

Initial communication was established with the victims to provide assistance and discuss their options for moving forward with the case.

During the subsequent 18 months, DC Sherwin and DC Pulsford collaborated closely with the women as they navigated the challenging process of revisiting the trauma they had endured.

It was determined that Adam Shellard, of Bosworth Road, Measham, had perpetrated these offences over a five-year duration.

During that period, one of the ladies endured multiple instances of rape, sexual assault, coercion, physical violence, and intimidation.

The second victim was subjected to several rapes over a period exceeding one month.

In March 2022, Adam Shellard was charged with 10 offences due to the robustness of the evidence and the comprehensive testimonies of the victims.

Six charges were brought against the first woman: three counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of coercive and controlling behaviour.

Three counts of rape were filed against the second lady.

During the inquiry, investigators discovered further offences involving an individual associated with one of the victims.

Adam Shellard was later charged with a single count of racially aggravated incitement to fear or provoke violence.

After a trial in August of this year, Adam Shellard was convicted of all charges and was sentenced today to a total of 17 years and seven months.
