A former Islandmagee Paedophile scout leader, honoured by the Queen, Wilson Alexander Reid, has been cautioned that he may receive a prison sentence after confessing to numerous historical sexual assault charges.

At Craigavon Crown Court, 67-year-old Wilson Alexander Reid faced 10 of the 15 charges reasserted against him.

Wilson Alexander Reid, residing on Ferris Bay Road in Islandmagee but originally from Portadown, pleaded guilty to eight counts of indecent assault and two counts of committing an act of gross indecency with a child, all offences perpetrated against a single victim between November 1, 2001, and August 31, 2006.

During the prosecution, attorney Ian Tannahill requested that five more charges of indecent assault be designated as “left on the books,” while underscoring that the pensioner’s guilty pleas “are accepted on a full-facts basis.”

Judge Donna McColgan KC adjourned the case to permit the completion of a presentence report and a Victim Impact Statement, subsequently releasing Wilson Alexander Reid on bail in the interim.

The judge disclosed that the deviant scoutmaster “is already listed on the sex offenders’ register,” cautioning Wilson Alexander Reid that his departure from the courtroom “is by no means indicative of the final verdict.”
