In 2026, the Offender Database reported that Vincent Middlebrough, then 46, of West View, Micklefield, Leeds, was sentenced to 10 months in prison at Teesside Crown Court. Middlebrough pleaded guilty to all charges, including attempting to meet a child following grooming and making indecent images of a child.
The investigation by the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit (NEROCU) established that in July 2024, Middlebrough arranged to meet what he believed was a 14-year-old boy. He had been sending the “child” messages and travelled to the meeting point on 4 July 2024. Upon his arrival, he was arrested by undercover officers.
Charges and Forensic Evidence
Following his arrest, police seized Middlebrough’s electronic devices. A forensic examination revealed indecent images and videos of children. The full range of charges included:
- Attempting to meet a child following grooming.
- Making indecent images of a child.
- Two counts of engaging in sexual communication with a child.
- Attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
- Facilitating the commission of a child sex offence.
Middlebrough pleaded guilty to these counts on 12 November 2025.
Sentence and Registration Requirements
For his crimes in the North East and the subsequent hearing at Teesside, Vincent Middlebrough was:
- Sentenced to 10 months in prison.
- Subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
- Placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
The judge at Teesside Crown Court handed down the sentence on Friday, 23 January 2026. NEROCU Detective Constable Grace Wass stated that the investigation was part of a commitment to protect the vulnerable and safeguard children.
Monitoring and Public Protection
Middlebrough is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by West Yorkshire Police and NEROCU. His status and his residency in Micklefield remain under scrutiny.
As a member of the Sex Offenders Register and subject to an indefinite SHPO, Middlebrough must comply with notification requirements for life. NEROCU states that they will continue to work under Operational Sentinel to tackle online child abuse. Any breach of his order or registration conditions will result in his return to Teesside Crown Court.
