In 2005, the Offender Database reported that Trevor Norkett, 41, of Collonade Gardens, Eastbourne, was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court.
Trevor Norkett was jailed for two years after breaching a ten-year sex offender order that prohibited him from adopting the guise of a cleric. The court heard that Trevor Norkett, a convicted sex offender previously sentenced for gross indecency with a young boy, had been living a secret double life by dressing as a priest under the name “Father Terry Moat” to deceive people into trusting him.
Trevor Norkett conducted a funeral service while dressed in a clerical collar and cassock, a deception that only came to light during a routine sex offender check by police. The judge ordered the destruction of the religious garments seized from Trevor Norkett’s home and noted that his bizarre charade was used to manipulate those around him.
