UPDATE 12.06.25
A Banbury Paedophile, Thomas Gale, who confessed to attempting to orchestrate the rape of a child under 13 has evaded incarceration at Oxford Crown Court.
Thomas Gale, of Parklands, Banbury, was sentenced yesterday, May 22, for four counts of child sexual crimes.
The 28-year-old admitted guilt at a prior hearing to one count of attempting to organise or aid the perpetration of a child sex crime between October 13 and October 24, 2022.
He endeavoured to orchestrate the sexual assault of a minor in Liphook, Hampshire, which was, in fact, a clandestine operation involving a “decoy” police officer posing as a sex offender online.
The cop confronted Thomas Gale on a child pornography website and expressed a desire to exploit his nonexistent 13-year-old daughter.
Thomas Gale engaged with the undercover officer, then transitioning their dialogue to Twitter.
The perpetrator claimed he could facilitate the abuse, even researching hotel rates in the vicinity, and stated that he possessed a collection of child pornography.
Three further charges pertain to a volume of child pornography discovered on Thomas Gale’s confiscated equipment, including a mobile phone and an electronic tablet.
This comprised 135 category A photographs and movies, 44 category B images, and 50 category C images and films.
Additional severe movies were discovered on the devices, which were not incorporated into the charges, stated prosecuting counsel Adam Williams on behalf of the Crown.
Thomas Gale was apprehended on November 29, 2022, and made his initial appearance at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on February 18 of this year.
Defending the accused, Marie-Armance Renaud articulated that since the offences occurred over two years ago, Thomas Gale has not reoffended and has engaged in rehabilitation programs to prevent future criminal behaviour.
She stated that he want for her to express his “remorse and his efforts to improve his life to avoid returning to the low point he experienced in 2022.”
During his sentencing remarks, Recorder James Hay stated: “I will not be incarcerating you today.”
“You appear to have undertaken all possible actions that anyone could reasonably expect to address these offenses.”
He imposed a two-year prison term on Gale for the principal offence of attempting to solicit the rape of a minor, with the additional charges of child pornography to be considered together, resulting in concurrent sentences.
The Recorder postponed the sentence for two years, indicating that if Thomas Gale commits another offence during this period, he would be required to serve the term.
He was mandated to attend a rehabilitation program, perform 150 hours of community service, and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order was instituted for a duration of 10 years.
