The Bury Paedophile, Suaiel Riaz Haider (11/08/1981), of Mosley Avenue, groomed, raped, and abused a teenage girl in the early 2000s, and he has now been brought to justice following a meticulous investigation conducted by specialised detectives from Bury’s Complex Safeguarding Team.

On July 7, 2025, Suaiel Riaz Haider was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment for two charges of raping a girl under the age of 16 and four counts of indecent assault, and he is required to adhere to the stipulations of a lifelong sexual harm protection order.

Suaiel Riaz Haider has been permanently registered as a sex offender.

Suaiel Riaz Haider was convicted on June 13, 2025, after a unanimous jury found him guilty during a two-week trial at Manchester Crown Court.

We initiated a retrospective inquiry into the acts committed by Haider up to twenty-five years ago following the courageous testimony of a victim to the police in 2021.

Detectives collaborated with her to document video statements, focus on particular topics, and collect evidence to enhance the disclosure.

The victim encountered Haider in 2000 when she was 15 years of age, and he was 19 years of age. He manipulated her by offering transportation from school, sustenance, cigarettes, and drink. Their bond rapidly became sexual.

He commenced issuing disparaging remarks towards her, which escalated to sexual offences.

He entered a plea of not guilty to the allegations, so subjecting the victim to a trial, and consistently denied all wrongdoing until the jury rendered a verdict of guilty.

Detective Sergeant Sarah Beale, of our Bury Complex Safeguarding Team, said: “The strength and courage of this survivor demonstrated while supporting our investigation and subsequent legal proceedings is commendable.

“It was incredibly brave of her to speak about the abuse, and this played a crucial role in ensuring Haider couldn’t get away with his crimes any longer and faced justice.

“Today marks the conclusion of a long and complicated investigation, and I hope that brings a sense of closure to her.

“We are on an upward improvement journey in how we tackle CSE – whether it be the abuse of children yesterday or today.

“I hope this case provides confidence to anyone who has experienced child abuse that if they come forward, they will be listened to, and we will do everything we can to secure justice.”
