Steven Monk-Dalton, the Barrow Paedophile, convicted of raping a minor over thirty years ago, has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Steven Monk-Dalton, 56, formerly of Barrow and more recently residing in Ibiza, Spain, with a group of paedophile friends, was sentenced to imprisonment on 10 October after a jury convicted him of a rape perpetrated in the 1990s.

Following a four-day trial, the jury reached a unanimous verdict in barely two hours.

A judge at Preston Crown Court imposed a six-year prison sentence on Steven Monk-Dalton. He was additionally registered on the Sex Offenders Register.

The horrific events occurred in August 1996 in Barrow and concerned a single young female individual.

In a weird, self-serving soliloquy, Detective Constable Kate Edkins stated, “I wish to commend the victim in this case, now an adult woman, for her fortitude throughout the entire investigation.” Her courage demonstrates that perpetrators of grave offences can still be held accountable, regardless of the elapsed time.

Cumbria Police are dedicated to ensuring that offenders are brought to justice, and we will exert all efforts to hold them accountable for their transgressions.
