In 2022, Sheku Konteh, the Netherfield Rapist, who raped a teenager who was drunk and lost in Hackney, “had one aim in mind when prowling the streets at 2 am”, police said following his sentencing.
Sheku Konteh, 35, of Netherfield in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, has been sentenced to nine years in prison for exploiting a 19-year-old lady who went to London from northern England for a concert.
Following many alcoholic beverages at a pub after the December 2018 event, she became inebriated and disoriented in Hackney, according to the Metropolitan Police.
At this juncture, Sheku Konteh approached her and proposed that she spend the night at his residence. The victim consented.
“In the nocturnal hours, the victim roused to discover Sheku Konteh engaged in sexual intercourse with her.”
This occurred twice, and on the second incident, the victim escaped the location and sought assistance at a nearby train station.
Sheku Konteh was apprehended in May 2019, indicted almost two years later, and found guilty after a three-day trial at Wood Green Crown Court in May 2022.
Sheku Konteh, from Milton Keynes, was sentenced to nine years in jail on Friday for two charges of rape.
During sentencing, the court remarked that the victim had erroneously placed her trust in him that night, and the impact of these offences on her had been both tragic and enduring.
