A Shortlands paedophile, Shaun Taylor-Thompson, from Bromley, previously granted leniency by a judge, has been apprehended once more with photographs and recordings depicting the sexual abuse and rape of infants.

Former care home employee Shaun Taylor-Thompson received a suspended sentence last February following a search of his residence that uncovered thousands of obscene photographs and videos of minors, including harrowing footage of toddlers as young as 18 months being mistreated.

Judge Rosina Cottage KC expressed her intention to incarcerate him but ultimately opted to grant him a second opportunity to receive the necessary assistance.

It has now come to light that within weeks, Shaun Taylor-Thompson reoffended and was apprehended with over a thousand additional child abuse photographs and films.

On Thursday, July 31, he was sentenced to four years in prison at the Old Bailey.

During his initial sentencing hearing last year, the court was informed that Shaun Taylor-Thompson’s residence on Beckenham Grove, Shortlands, had been subjected to a raid in January 2022.

His mobile device, hard drive, and cloud storage account were examined and revealed thousands of illicit photographs and videos of minors.

In sentencing the offender, Judge Cottage stated: “Upon reviewing the case documents, I felt compelled to impose a prison sentence as a form of punishment, which you would rightfully merit.”

“But I’m not sure it would achieve the aim of preventing you from looking at pictures of babies.”

He received a suspended sentence of 20 months.

On June 1 of the previous year, Metropolitan Police officers performed a standard visit to his residence.

It was revealed that Shaun Taylor-Thompson had utilised hidden browsing sites and possessed troubling photographs on his iPhone.

Subsequent examination of his device disclosed that he had erased his internet history 1,046 times since March and utilised a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to conceal his online identity.

They discovered 1,017 photographs and videos of child abuse, including footage of infants under three months old being victimised.

A subsequent search of his residence uncovered other gadgets that the Metropolitan Police are currently analysing.

Shaun Taylor-Thompson appeared at the Old Bailey on Thursday, 31 July 2025, after confessing to 13 charges, including the possession of obscene pictures of children.

Judge Philip Katz KC, sentencing, said: “What I’ve heard paints a really sorry picture but you are the only one responsible for your predicament right now – you were given a second chance and you’ve thrown it back in the court’s face.”

He sentenced Shaun Taylor-Thompson to three years in prison for his latest offending and activated one year of his suspended sentence – resulting in a total prison sentence of four years.
