Back in 2012, a woman who endured severe sexual abuse by her older brother, Shaun Christopher Allan, the Ludgershall Paedophile, for nine years, came forward following his four-year imprisonment.

Nicky Allan, 38, attended Salisbury Crown Court on Tuesday to witness Shaun Christopher Allan, 44, of Tidworth Road, Ludgershall, Andover, Hampshire, SP11, confess to one crime of rape and seven counts of indecent assault against her, commencing when she was merely seven or eight years old.

Ms Allan, who waived her right to anonymity to talk to the Journal, said: I just wanted to be heard. I felt nobody had heard my side of the story. It should never have happened, and I wanted justice to be done, and finally it has.

The court heard she was adopted by Shaun Christopher Allan’s parents when she was five or six and living in her home country of Canada.

The family then moved to Tidworth Road in Ludgershall.

Initiating legal proceedings, Rosaleen Collins stated that Ms Allan’s initial recollection of abuse occurred when she was approximately seven or eight years old, while her adopted brother was around 14 or 15 years of age. He would perpetrate an indecent attack on her in her bedroom while their mother was absent.

Ms Collins stated that there were years of abuse, and he seized every opportunity available to him.

She was unable to sleep at night due to concerns over his potential arrival, which adversely impacted her concentration at school.

Ms Allan married at 18, divorced two years later, and returned to Canada, where she currently resides.

She notified the authorities of the abuse upon learning that Shaun Christopher Allan had confessed to many sexual attacks on children from 2001 to 2008, for which he received a four-year sentence in May 2010.

Sentencing of Shaun Christopher Allan, Recorder Geoffrey Mercer stated that Ms Allan endured persistent shame and misery due to this recurrent sexual assault perpetrated by you.

Shaun Christopher Allan’s sentence will be consecutive to the four years and three months he is now serving, and his name will be permanently listed on the sex offenders register.

Ms Allan said: On Monday, even just hearing his name made me fall apart, so I’m relieved that he actually admitted it. I am happy with the sentence. I can finally get closure, go back to Canada and live my life again.
