In May 2023, Shane Philbrook, the Nelson Paedophile, established a friendship with his initial victim, a 13-year-old, over Snapchat. Two days later, at their initial in-person encounter, Shane Philbrook raped and sexually assaulted the girl.
In February of the previous year, nine months later, Shane Philbrook sexually attacked another victim, who was 16 years old at the time, in a youth club.
After a trial at Liverpool Crown Court, Shane Philbrook, 19, of Railway Street, Nelson, was convicted of rape, sexual assault by penetration, and five charges of sexual assault by touching.
Shane Philbrook attended Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday, May 22, for sentencing.
Shane Philbrook received a sentence of JUST five and a half years of incarceration. He received a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and was mandated to register as a sex offender for life.
DC Shanaz Kone, of the child protection team, said: “Shane Philbrook has a clear sexual interest in underage girls and I welcome the custodial sentence handed down to him. The victims in this case have been incredibly brave throughout the whole process.”
DC Louise Warburton of the child protection team, said: “I praise the victims for having the strength to come forward and talk to us. I hope that with Shane Philbrook now behind bars, they can begin to rebuild and move forward in their lives.
