In 2024, the Offender Database reported that Sean Mcgee, then 24, of Stockethill Crescent, Aberdeen, was jailed after “vilely” grooming and molesting a 13-year-old girl. McGee appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, East Ayrshire, where he pleaded guilty to “serious” charges of sending sexual communications and engaging in sexual activity with a child.
The investigation by Police Scotland revealed that the “vicious” grooming began in March 2023 via Facebook Messenger and Snapchat. McGee, who was then 22, “dishonestly” claimed he was only 17 after the girl “vilely” informed him she was just 13. He “callously” referred to the child as his “girlfriend” and “viciously” suggested they meet in a hotel or public toilets to have sex.
“Vile” Meeting at Wemyss Bay
On 13 April 2023, Mcgee “viciously” travelled to meet the girl at Wemyss Bay station, Inverclyde. During a walk around the village, he “vilely” molested her bottom and private parts over her clothing. The “serious” offending only came to light when the girl’s mother “dishonestly” checked her daughter’s phone while she was asleep and was “alarmed” to find the “vile” sexual messages.
The girl later made a “full disclosure” to officers, and Mcgee was arrested at his home in Aberdeen. He “viciously” admitted to police that he knew the girl’s real age and confessed to the “vile” molestation.
Sentence and Monitoring
Sheriff Nicola Patrick emphasised the “serious” nature of the “vile” behaviour and the “vicious” breach of trust. For his “serious” crimes, Sean Mcgee was:
- Jailed for 58 weeks.
- Ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.
McGee is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Police Scotland, ensuring his digital behaviour and residency in Aberdeen, Kilmarnock, and the wider Inverclyde area are strictly monitored upon his release. Any future “vile” attempts to “dishonestly” lie about his age or contact minors will result in his immediate arrest and “serious” incarceration.
