UPDATE DECEMBER 2025

In December 2025, the Offender Database reported that Samuel Rust, 23, previously of Boverton, Llantwit Major, was sentenced at Gloucester Crown Court. Rust was jailed for six-and-a-half years following a trial that exposed a “litany of extreme pornography, brutality, and humiliation.” He was convicted of multiple sexual offences and false imprisonment involving a female victim.

The court heard that Rust’s predatory behaviour began when he was 16 years old, at which time he raped a girl of the same age. In addition to counts of anal and oral rape, Rust was convicted of false imprisonment. The prosecution detailed an incident where Rust, having initially tied the victim up with her consent, proceeded to lock her naked inside a cupboard for 15 minutes against her will. His arrest in April 2024 by Gloucestershire Police led to the seizure of electronic devices containing approximately 4,500 videos, many of which depicted extreme violence and the sexual abuse of women.

During the sentencing, the victim read a powerful impact statement, describing the “crushing, debilitating weight of fear and shame” she had carried for years. She confronted Rust in court, stating that he had subjected her to “violent and humiliating acts” and expressed her hope that he would finally see himself for what he is: “a rapist, a violent man, and an abuser.” Judge Ian Lawrie KC noted that Rust’s fixation with extreme pornography was a significant aggravating factor, remarking that the material—hallmarked by the brutal humiliation and domination of women—was echoed in his actual behaviour toward the victim.

Despite claims of “previous good character” by his defence, Judge Lawrie dismissed Rust’s attempts at mitigation. The judge described a letter Rust had written to the victim as “the opposite of contrition” and an exercise in “gaslighting,” concluding that the defendant showed little genuine remorse. Rust was found guilty of one count of anal rape, one count of oral rape, one count of sexual assault, and one count of false imprisonment. He also pleaded guilty to possessing extreme pornographic images immediately prior to the trial.

On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, Samuel Rust was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison. He was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life and handed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). Furthermore, the court imposed restraining orders protecting the primary victim and two other women. These measures are designed to manage the high risk Rust poses and to ensure his future conduct is strictly monitored by the authorities upon his release.
