The Offender Database reported that Samuel Payne, the Keighley Rapist Sex Offender, who refuted his “nasty and vile” offences in a “vicious” manner, has commenced a prolonged 16-year sentence.
Samuel Payne, 35, previously of Keighley, will serve 13 years in prison, followed by three years on probation.
During sentencing at Bradford Crown Court, His Honour Judge Roger Thomas KC stated: “The crime of rape raises the question I must address: are you an individual who should be considered a significant risk of inflicting serious harm to others in the future?” My response to that inquiry is an emphatic ‘yes.’ I can arrive at no other rational conclusion.
He stated: “You evidently possess a profoundly entrenched aspect of sheer malevolence.” This is evident in certain acts, which demonstrate persistent and deliberate conduct of a malevolent and wicked nature over an extended duration.
Samuel Payne was found guilty after trial of several charges, including the rape of a girl whom he threatened with an iron bar, brandished a knife at her throat, and stated: ‘I’ll twist your neck off’.
Samuel Payne additionally menaced a second victim with sexual assault and homicide.
In victim impact statements, one said “fear still lingered in her mind” and that Samuel Payne had “erased her emotions,” leaving her “broken.”
The other described constant anxiety, panic attacks, and her body in “constant fight or flight” mode.
