In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Samuel Davidson, then 28, of Watson Terrace, Drongan, East Ayrshire, was sentenced to 18 months in prison at Ayr Sheriff Court. Davidson was jailed after being caught with a 13-year-old girl in his bedroom, having engaged in “significant sexual contact” with the vulnerable teenager.
The investigation established that the girl’s parents had filed a missing persons report after she snuck out of her home shortly after midnight on May 6, 2018. Police traced her to Davidson’s bedroom, where she was discovered getting dressed. Despite knowing the girl was only 13, Davidson failed to contact the authorities, later “arrogantly” telling the teen that their 14-year age gap “didn’t matter.”
Digital Evidence and Grooming Messages
Police Scotland seized Davidson’s mobile phone, uncovering a series of messages that detailed plans to engage in sexual activity. One “appalling” message from the girl mentioned it was her “first time” and she was unsure what to expect, to which Davidson replied: “There’s nothing to worry about, gorgeous.” These exchanges confirmed that Davidson had been “persistently” grooming the child over a period of several weeks.
The court heard that Davidson admitted engaging in sexual activity with the teenager on various occasions between April and May 2018. The Sheriff emphasised that as a 27-year-old man, Davidson had exploited a child he believed was vulnerable, making a custodial sentence the only appropriate option to address such “reprehensible” conduct.
Sentence and Statutory Requirements
For his crimes in Drongan, East Ayrshire, Samuel Davidson was handed:
- Custodial Sentence: 18 months in immediate custody.
- Sex Offenders Register: Notification requirements for 10 years.
- Supervision: A requirement to be supervised by social work departments upon his release.
- Contact Prohibition: A five-year ban on contacting any female under the age of 16.

Monitoring and Public Protection
Davidson is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Police Scotland. His history of “persistent” grooming and the exploitation of a 13-year-old girl means he remains under critical scrutiny.
As a member of the Sex Offenders Register until 2029, Davidson must comply with strict notification requirements regarding his address in Drongan, East Ayrshire. Authorities state that the mandatory inspection of his digital devices is a “critical” tool to ensure public safety. Any breach of his supervision terms or his contact prohibition will result in his immediate return to Ayr Sheriff Court.
