In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Ryan Ballard, the Selkirk Paedophile and Police Scotland Sex Offender, bragged on a social media platform about engaging in sexual conduct with his imaginary daughter.
Ryan Ballard asserted he was a father of three when he registered on ChatStop and transmitted several sexually explicit communications to an undercover police officer.
The then 51-year-old officer stated on his profile that he is a bisexual married individual from Scotland, with two boys aged 11 and 15, and a daughter aged nine.
From May 15 until August 29, he communicated multiple messages to the undercover officer in the chatroom, discussing inappropriate conduct against the girl and detailing his sexual actions with her.
However, the Selkirk Sheriff Court was informed that, at the time, Ryan Ballard was married but had no offspring.
An undercover investigator from the South East Regional Crime Unit in England notified the Internet Investigations Unit at Police Scotland, which led to Ryan Ballard’s suspension on August 31, following the charges against him.
Ryan Ballard, originally from Selkirk in the Scottish Borders, has since separated from his spouse and is now engaged in a new relationship.
He admitted guilt to charges of transmitting offensive and sexually explicit texts concerning sexual activities with both older and younger minors over a period of three months.
UPDATE
The sheriff imposed a 12-month Community Payback Order, as an alternative to custody, with supervision, which would involve monitoring of any Internet access.
In addition, he will be subject to the notification requirements of the Sexual Offences Act for the next 12 months.
