On Friday, November 7, Rowan Barnett-Davies, the Hirwaun Paedophile and Sex Offender, a 23-year-old inhabitant of Brecon Road, received an eight-year prison sentence at Newport Crown Court.

He had previously entered a guilty plea to numerous grave charges related to child sexual offences, encompassing 21 counts of causing or inciting a child to participate in sexual activity, three counts of engaging in sexual communication with a child, 11 counts of distributing indecent images, and seven counts of possessing indecent, prohibited, and extreme images.

The inquiry conducted by South Wales Police showed that Rowan Barnett-Davies had victimised 20 individuals, all aged between 12 and 16 at the time of the incidents. Officers obtained intelligence concerning Barnett-Davies’ ownership of child sexual abuse material, which initiated a thorough inquiry into his activities.

The inquiry intensified on December 20, 2024, when West Mercia Police indicated that Rowan Barnett-Davies may have been involved in sexual communication with a 13-year-old girl. The girl’s mother notified the police upon discovering that her daughter had been engaging in online communication with Rowan Barnett-Davies, who purportedly transmitted funds in return for lewd photographs. The next day, officers from the South Wales Police Online Investigation Team (POLIT) promptly visited Rowan Barnett-Davies’ residence.

Upon arriving at his apartment, investigators discovered Rowan Barnett-Davies asleep in his bedroom, with two mobile phones placed beside him.

He was apprehended on the grounds of suspected possession of obscene photos of minors and involvement in sexual communication with a minor.

As the investigation progressed, further searches of Rowan Barnett-Davies’ residence led to the confiscation of several mobile phones.

All three phones found in his bedroom were verified as his property, and he provided officers with the necessary passwords to access the stored content.

On March 19, 2025, authorities executed a second arrest of Rowan Barnett-Davies at his residence.

He was apprehended on suspicion of further charges, including the possession and distribution of obscene photos of minors and enticing a minor to participate in sexual behaviour.

He was once again admonished, and the inquiry continued with the confiscation of an additional mobile phone.

After a comprehensive review of the evidence presented, Rowan Barnett-Davies entered a guilty plea to the charges.
