A Paedophile ex-army officer from Clapton, Roland Lamin, who groomed underage girls online was jailed for seven years.
Roland Lamin’s offending came to light when one girl was overheard at school by a teacher, talking about a man buying her things and referring to him as their ‘sugar daddy’.
Roland Lamin, 29, of Redwald Road, Clapton, was found guilty after a trial of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, causing a child watch a sexual act, engaging in sexual communication with a child, making indecent images of a child and sexual assault.
Over the course of the case, he also breached his interim sexual risk order. On Monday, January 27, Roland Lamin was sentenced to seven years imprisonment at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
The discharged army officer would use social media to target his victims, schoolgirls aged under 16 years. Once he built up a rapport with the girls, his messaging became sexual. He would send sexual explicit photographs and videos of himself and ask for sexually explicit pictures in return.
With one victim, depraved Roland Lamin recorded Facetime calls they had in which he encouraged her to touch herself sexually.
Melissa Garner, from the CPS, said: “Roland Lamin preyed on vulnerable young girls and used social media in the most depraved way to find young girls to provide him with sexual gratification.
“Roland Lamin knew the age of the girls with whom he was chatting and would quickly escalate it to a sexual level. With one victim, he recorded Facetime conversations they had during which he encouraged her to touch herself sexually.
“This case only goes to highlight how important it is that young people are vigilant about people they engage with online. This sentence will protect more young girls from his corrupt ways.”
