The Manston Paedophile, Richard Brown, 60, of Kelmscott Avenue, was convicted of two counts of indecent assault against the victim after a unanimous jury verdict at Leeds Crown Court, which finished on June 18.

In 2022, the victim reported the abuse after learning that Richard Brown was under police investigation for suspected possession of indecent pictures. The examination of the images did not advance to prosecution.

Specialist officers at the Leeds District Safeguarding Unit conducted a thorough video recorded interview with the victim as part of an extensive investigation into the offences. Richard Brown was apprehended and subsequently indicted on two charges of indecent assault against a minor under the age of 14.

The victim was afforded exceptional measures for the trial, allowing her video interview to serve as primary evidence, while screens were employed in the courtroom to shield her from the criminal and the public gallery.

Richard Brown received a sentence of two years and four months in prison, along with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order prohibiting any unsupervised contact with a female minor under the age of 16.

He was additionally registered on the Sex Offenders Register, and the victim was issued an indefinite Restraining Order prohibiting any contact with Richard Brown.
