In 2022, Raymond Pelz, the Ludgershall Paedophile, who consistently victimised two young girls, had his prison term augmented following a referral to the Court of Appeal for being excessively lenient.
At the age of 15, Raymond Pelz, then 76, perpetrated rape and sexual assault on two minors over a year-long duration from 1961 to 1963.
On 1 June 2022, he was convicted of two counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault at Lewes Crown Court.
Raymond Pelz was sentenced to three years in prison and registered as a lifelong sex offender.
After the sentencing, the then Solicitor General, Alex Chalk MP, submitted Raymond Pelz’s case to the Court of Appeal under the Unduly Lenient Sentence system, since he deemed the initial sentence insufficiently severe.
On 06 September 2022, the Court of Appeal determined that Raymond Pelz’s sentence was excessively mild, subsequently increasing it to 5 years of jail.
