The Sussex Paedophile, Peter John Howard Webb, 77 years old, was found guilty of three charges of indecent assault against a boy aged 11 to 12 at Christ’s Hospital School near Horsham in the early 1970s, during his tenure as a teacher and the boy’s status as a pupil.

On September 9, Peter John Howard Webb received a 12-month prison sentence at Hove Crown Court following a three-day trial.

The court heard that Peter John Howard Webb has already been given sentences totalling seven years, imposed in 2015 and 2017, for a series of indecent assaults on five other boys at the same school between 1974 and 1984 while a woodwork teacher and housemaster there.

Peter John Howard Webb was still a serving prisoner during this latest trial.

Peter John Howard Webb is already a registered sex offender for life and is still subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order imposed in 2017.

Detective Sergeant Rebecca Wilde of the Sussex Police Complex Abuse Unit said: “This is the third time that Peter John Howard Webb has faced justice, as his victims from so many years ago have gradually found the strength to come forward and support our investigations.

“He had systematically targeted this vulnerable young boy, as he had all the others, while he was in a position of authority and trust, for his sexual gratification.

“He made the boy feel special, establishing a secret relationship with him over many months. To this day, the victim remembers, as well as the distressing events, the distinctive aroma of stale alcohol and tobacco that he associates with Peter John Howard Webb.”
