PC Samuel Smith, a Sussex Police Offender, has been terminated without notice for failing to adequately investigate a crime and unjustifiably withdrawing his Taser.
PC Samuel Smith, stationed in Worthing, faced nine charges of misconduct and one charge of aggravated misconduct.
The former police constable also encountered accusations of submitting erroneous and fraudulent entries in force systems, as well as exhibiting dishonesty towards supervisors and colleagues.
Sussex Police reported that all but one of the allegations, which occurred between March and June 2023, were substantiated following a misconduct tribunal that concluded on Monday.
Detective Superintendent Andy Wolstenholme stated that the terminated police constable’s “catalogue of misconduct demonstrates a total disregard for the obligations of a police officer.”
“PC Samuel Smith has been appropriately dismissed from duty, and I trust his conduct will not detract from the exceptional efforts of the vast majority of other officers in our police service,” he stated.
The allegation of making inappropriate remarks to a colleague regarding domestic abuse was not substantiated, the force stated.
