Paul Woodmass, the Lemmington Rapist, has been incarcerated for over ten years for raping a defenceless elderly woman.

Paul Woodmass, 66, initially encountered the woman while walking his dogs.

Subsequently, Paul Woodmass discovered her residence, intruded upon the premises, and assaulted her sexually.

The victim contacted a family member and promptly recounted the incident.

A specialist Sexual Offences Liaison Officer (SOLO) was summoned to conduct expedited enquiries to identify a suspect.

During the SOLO’s visit to the victim, Paul Woodmass returned to the location.

Following an interaction with him, Paul Woodmass was warned and subjected to a search, during which the officer discovered a packet of condoms in his pocket.

Paul Woodmass declined to disclose his identity, stating that he had been invited by the victim for tea.

He was apprehended on allegations of rape and placed in jail.

Paul Woodmass disputed the allegations during interrogation but was charged the next day.

In July, after a trial at Newcastle Crown Court, Paul Woodmass, residing on Linnel Drive, Lemmington, was unanimously convicted of rape.

Today (Friday), he reappeared in the same court where he received a nine-year prison sentence. He will additionally serve three more years on an extended licence following his release from custody.

Paul Woodmass will be on the Sex Offenders’ Register for the duration of his life. He was also issued a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) restraining order to safeguard the victim.
