Neil Glover, the Christchurch Rapist, who brandished a replica firearm at a woman’s head and sexually assaulted her during a massage appointment in Christchurch, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Neil Glover (47) assaulted the victim, a woman in her 50s whose identity is protected for legal reasons, while she was administering a massage, as shown in Bournemouth Crown Court.

The defendant, Neil Glover, who was homeless, contacted the woman and received a massage from her on February 10th of the previous year, during which he inappropriately handled her forcefully. She halted Neil Glover, who promptly expressed his apologies.

Subsequent to Neil Glover’s additional apologies, he was granted another massage appointment two days later. However, while the victim was facing away from him, Neil Glover brandished what she perceived to be a firearm and pressed it against her head. He compelled her to engage in a sexual act and subsequently raped her, as presented to the court.

The victim notified the police the subsequent day, leading to Neil Glover’s arrest at a location in Bournemouth. Officers discovered five counterfeit firearms on the premises, including a replica pistol that corresponded with the victim’s description.

During the interview, Neil Glover asserted that the sexual activity was consensual but refrained from commenting on enquiries regarding the firearm’s use.

He then refuted four allegations: two of rape, possession of a firearm with intent to commit an offence, and assault by penetration. The jury rendered a guilty verdict following the trial.

Neil Glover will face an extended licensing period of an additional seven years and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. He was also registered on the sex offenders’ list indefinitely.

District of Columbia Tom Bancroft, of Bournemouth CID, stated: “The victim endured a harrowing experience inflicted by this defendant, who exacerbated the situation by persistently denying his wrongdoing and proceeding to trial.”

I commend the victim for her resilience demonstrated throughout the process, from her initial disclosure to her support of the inquiry and testimony during the trial.
