Nathan Staples, the Haverhill Rapist, has received a term for rape and controlling and coercive behaviour. Nathan Staples, 38, of Rowan Close in Haverhill, was sentenced to 10 years and six months in prison at Peterborough Crown Court on Thursday, September 25.
This follows his guilty pleas at a prior hearing for rape, sexual assault by penetration, and controlling and coercive behaviour.
The victim and Nathan Staples were in a relationship in which he required her to report her whereabouts. He would demand that she ‘Facetime’ him to reveal her companions. Nathan Staples compelled the victim to disclose her location for tracking purposes and insisted that she provide screenshots and photographs of her surroundings. The suspect would repeatedly contact and message the victim while she was away.
Nathan Staples insisted that he examine the victim’s phone and threatened to contest her refusal to relinquish it. Staples was apprehended in November 2024 and subsequently charged and detained for the charges.
In addition to the prison sentence, Nathan Staples will be subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
