Nathan Ackerley Hastings Rapist who raped a helpless, vulnerable woman, has been imprisoned for ten years. Following her return to his house in October 2021, 28-year-old Nathan Ackerley of School Road in Hastings sexually assaulted a woman as she slept.
She woke up during the attack, in which he had cut her clothes, managed to flee, and then reported the crime straight to a police station.
Although specialised police helped her, Nathan Ackerley was discovered and taken into custody on rape suspicions.
He had photographed the victim while she was asleep, according to a scan of his phone.
Later charges included voyeurism, sexual assault by penetration, and rape—along with sexual assault by touching.
Nathan Ackerley was found guilty of all charges on Friday, July 19. Following his sentencing on Monday, July 22, he was given a ten-year term, with a minimum of two-thirds of that term to be served.
Nathan Ackerley also received orders to sign the Sex Offers’ Register for life and a restraining order against the victim.
The victim, a lady in her 20s, said, “I would want to thank Sussex Police for their continuous support, and I hope future victims feel they may come forward. Ideally, we have prevented this from happening to someone else in the future.
“The victim in this investigation showed incredible bravery in reporting this terrible ordeal to the police and supporting this process through to its conclusion,” said Detective Sergeant Ella Cook.
She has been clear that her purpose was to prevent this from happening to someone else, and, thanks to her, a dangerous individual is behind bars, where he can cause no further harm to the public.
“For their support and excellent effort, I want to thank this brave young woman and all others engaged in this inquiry.
