The Offender Database reported that Naijil Paul, the Indian North Lanarkshire Rapist, a nurse who raped a vulnerable colleague after threatening her with dismissal unless she performed a sex act, has been jailed for nearly eight years.

Naijil Paul, 47, also sexually assaulted two other young women while working as a care home manager in North Lanarkshire.

He was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow to seven years and nine months’ imprisonment after being extradited from India for the trial.

Naijil Paul admitted the crimes at an October hearing, but a pre-sentencing report revealed “quite a degree of victim blaming”—including his claim that he thought he was doing one victim a favour.

Arrested in February 2025 and extradited from Delhi, he admitted to rape and two sexual assaults; his sentence was reduced from eight years for the guilty plea.

Naijil Paul will be supervised for two years post-release, placed on the sex offenders register for life, and barred from contacting victims.
