A 22-year-old man, Mohammed Sanana, the Cheltenham Rapist, has been sentenced to four years in prison for the sexual assault and attempted rape of a lady in Cheltenham.
Mohammed Sanana received his sentence at Cheltenham Crown Court on Friday, December 7, 2024. On 11 November, a jury convicted him of the offences.
Laura Opie of the Crown Prosecution Service said: “Mohammed Sanana ruthlessly targeted two women who were on a night out. He approached them under the guise of offering assistance but, instead of helping them as he promised, he sexually assaulted and attempted to rape one of them.
“The police and the Crown Prosecution Service are working tirelessly to bring offenders like this to justice.
“This prosecution could not have happened without the evidence provided by the woman who Mohammed Sanana assaulted. I would like to thank and commend her for her bravery in coming forward to support the case.
“We want every victim of sexual offences to have the confidence that they will be supported when they report a crime and that we are committed to securing justice for them.”
