A rapist, Michael Gibson, has been incarcerated due to crucial forensic evidence acquired over a year prior to law enforcement being notified of his offence.
A young woman studying in Nottingham was raped by an acquaintance, Michael Gibson, following a night out in March 2019.
Upon her first decision to refrain from informing the police, a friend urged her to seek assistance at Nottingham’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre.
The evidence, which unequivocally demonstrated personal contact between the victim and her assailant, was crucial when he refuted the occurrence of any sexual interaction.
The evidence found on the victim’s clothing was submitted to prosecutors along with Michael Gibson’s denial of sexual contact and a collection of mobile phone messages in which he expressed remorse to the victim.
On Friday, July 18, Michael Gibson, incarcerated in HMP Nottingham, was sentenced to six and a half years at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.
