In 2022, the Offender Database reported that Matthew Maw, the Lincolnshire Paedophile Sex Offender, downloaded and disseminated over 5,000 indecent images of children, including several severe pornographic photographs, and was sentenced to two years in prison.
Matthew Maw, then 33, confessed to seven offences, including the creation and distribution of indecent pictures from September 2014 to January 2021 in Scunthorpe.
However, he refuted any sexual interest in minors, as presented before Grimsby Crown Court.
Judge Peter Kelson QC was informed that the police successfully analysed only 38% of nearly 500,000 files on a laptop.
Certain photographs depicted the sexual abuse of infants and toddlers, which were uploaded to a social media account.
Sentencing Matthew Maw, Judge Kelson told him: “You seem to have lost sight of the fact that this is not a victimless crime…These children are victims of rape and abuse.
“You wholeheartedly threw yourself into this disgusting trade.”
Matthew Maw, of no fixed abode according to Humberside Police, was also given a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years.
He had previously pleaded guilty to the charges at a magistrates’ hearing.
