In 2018, the Offender Database reported that Matthew Ferguson, the Dundee Rapist Sex Offender, who assaulted three teenagers while they slept, was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Matthew Ferguson assaulted the adolescents over a span of five years at residences in Dundee and Galashiels.

A 24-year-old resident of Wellgrove Street, Dundee, was convicted of three counts of rape and one count of indecent assault occurring between 2011 and 2016.

A trial revealed that Matthew Ferguson sexually abused his youngest victim at the age of 13 and subsequently raped her after she became 14.

A victim said in court that she was first subjected to a sexual offence perpetrated by Matthew Ferguson when she was a young teenager, staying overnight at a residence in Galashiels as a guest at a party.

She subsequently informed the police that Matthew Ferguson had entered the room where she was sleeping and assaulted her.

Describing when Matthew Ferguson raped her, she said: “It took me a minute or so to realise someone was lying on top of me.”

The victim reported that she was weeping when she subsequently informed her father of Matthew Ferguson’s actions towards her.

A second lady testified in court that during the spring of 2016, she was residing with her then-boyfriend in Dundee when Matthew Ferguson made a visit.

She stated that he and her partner were conversing about a mobile application, and she subsequently fell asleep after midnight.

She told advocate depute Richard Goddard that the next thing she remembered after falling asleep was “someone on top of me”.

She said she woke up to her boyfriend shouting, “Get off her.” She said Matthew Ferguson was still on top of her when she heard the words.

Matthew Ferguson, of Dundee, was also placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
