A married parent and Carlisle Paedophile, Mark Hodgson, who disseminated several images of youngsters being sexually exploited and assaulted has received a suspended prison sentence.

Mark Hodgson, 57, from Carlisle, was apprehended at his workplace in September when law enforcement discovered photos of minors published on a social media platform.

Carlisle Crown Court heard that Mark Hodgson asserted he had no sexual interest in minors; however, the sentencing judge deemed this argument “fanciful”.

Mark Hodgson, having confessed to the creation and distribution of indecent images of minors and the possession of extreme pornographic content, received a two-year prison sentence, suspended for two years. He is required to fulfil rehabilitation sessions and perform 150 hours of community service.

Two mobile phones confiscated from him included illicit static and dynamic photographs depicting the sexual exploitation of youngsters aged seven to fifteen.

Investigators discovered a total of 56 photos, with 38 categorised as the most severe class, category A, depicting child rape.

During the interview, Mark Hodgson acknowledged that he received the photographs, which he subsequently copied, posted, and shared, during a period of misconduct from February 2023 to August of the previous year.

Recorder William Beardmore informed Mark Hodgson: “Those children, somewhere globally, were subjected to abuse by individuals in the most grotesque manner.”

“Notwithstanding the fact you did not take these photographs, you were part of the reason there is a demand for this material.

Mark Hodgson is now subject to sex offender notification requirements and must also adhere to the strict terms of a prevention order, both for 10 years.

He was also barred from working with children and vulnerable adults.
