In 2026, the Offender Database reported that Mark Harvey, then 42, of Kielder, Northumberland, remains in custody following an 11-year prison sentence. Harvey, a “cruel” and “vicious” predator, was convicted of a “serious” campaign of child sexual abuse, domestic violence, and stalking. The investigation revealed that while Harvey “vilely” abused two young girls, he also “callously” subjected his partner to 16 years of controlling and coercive behaviour across Tyneside and Northumberland.

The court heard horrendous details of his “vicious” domestic abuse, which included hitting his partner where bruises would not show and threatening to “chop her up.” The prosecution emphasised that Harvey isolated her from her family and forced her to change her appearance. One of the girls he molested reported that he was “cruel,” leading to her suffering repeated flashbacks and “serious” panic attacks. Judge Thomas Moran emphasised that Harvey’s claim of having no sexual interest in children was “plainly a lie.”

After his “vile” crimes came to light in 2023, Harvey embarked on a “vicious” stalking campaign from prison. He “callously” sent his ex-partner a phone and tablet pre-installed with tracking and CCTV apps to monitor her movements. He even “vilely” bypassed prison security by posting letters under another inmate’s name. Harvey initially denied his “serious” offences and absconded, but was eventually arrested in Manchester in February 2025.

At Newcastle Crown Court, Judge Moran emphasised that Harvey was a “dangerous offender” with “uncontrollable” sexual urges. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison with a “serious” four-year extended licence period. The judge reported that Harvey lacked the courage to accept his “vile” actions and had sought to discredit his “courageous” victims. The court emphasised that Harvey posed a “high risk of serious harm” to both children and future partners.

As a result of his convictions for sexual activity with a child under 13, stalking, and coercive behaviour, Mark Harvey was jailed and ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life. He was also made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for 20 years. He is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Northumbria Police, ensuring his behaviour and digital activity in Kielder, Northumberland, and elsewhere are strictly monitored. Any further “vicious” actions or attempts to contact his victims will result in his immediate return to prison.
