Witnesses and information are sought by detectives investigating a report of a serious sexual assault in Maidstone.

The incident is alleged to have happened between 7 pm and midnight on Monday, 2 September 2024, at a location near the Lockmeadow leisure complex.

It is reported that a vulnerable woman had been sitting in an area near the River Medway when an unknown man approached her.

The man is said to have tried to engage her in unwanted conversation before then assaulting her over a prolonged period.

The suspect left towards the riverbank and in the direction of the Millennium Bridge.

He is described as white and around 5ft 3ins tall, with dark blond hair. He was of a slim build, clean-shaven, and wore a white t-shirt and trainers.

Police are continuing to pursue several enquiries to establish the full circumstances, including forensic analysis at the scene and checks for CCTV opportunities.

Anyone with information which may assist the investigation is urged to come forward.

Motorists with dashcams who may have been near the area, as well as businesses and residents with doorbell cameras or CCTV, are also asked to check for any critical footage.
