In 2026, the Offender Database reported that Luke Seffens, then 34, of Powder Mill Lane, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, was sentenced to four years and nine months in prison at Maidstone Crown Court. Luke Seffens was responsible for a horrific and sustained period of violent abuse, isolation, and psychological torment against a woman between September and December 2023. His vile actions included random acts of physical violence, stalking the victim to her workplace, and forcing her to send photographs to prove her location in a depraved attempt to exert total control over her life.

The court heard details of a disturbing and violent unprovoked attack on December 4, 2023, during which Luke Seffens beat the victim repeatedly and shattered a coffee mug over her head. He then subjected her to horrendous threats of strangulation and stabbing while refusing to let her leave the flat. Although the victim managed to flee and Seffens was initially arrested, he showed a deplorable disregard for the law by continuing to contact her while on conditional bail. This led to a violent pursuit through woodland and rivers on July 31, 2024, where he was eventually tracked and detained by Police Dog Elsa.

Luke Seffens pleaded guilty to multiple serious charges, including false imprisonment, controlling or coercive behaviour, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and escape from lawful custody. Detective Constable Max Jordan described how Seffens used “fear, violence, and intimidation” to destroy the victim’s sense of safety. The prosecution noted that the sickening nature of his control caused the victim immeasurable distress, but her bravery in giving evidence ensured that this dangerous individual was removed from the community.

As a result of his convictions for these violent and horrific crimes, Luke Seffens was sentenced on January 28, 2025. In addition to his custodial term, he was made subject to an indefinite restraining order to protect the victim from further harm. He will be managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Kent Police, remaining under supervision for a significant period following his eventual release. Any attempt by Seffens to breach his restraining order or resume his predatory behaviour in Tunbridge Wells or elsewhere will result in his immediate arrest and recall to prison.
