A serving Police Community Support Officer (PCSO), alleged rapist Liam McCormack, has been indicted for rape subsequent to an inquiry.

Liam McCormack, 41, residing in Bristol, has been indicted for the rape of a lady in South Gloucestershire in December 2016.

Liam McCormack is scheduled to appear at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on 14 July.

Avon and Somerset Police stated that Liam McCormack has been suspended since December 2021, following a report of the incident by a third party.

The police stated that Liam McCormack was off-duty during the purported offence and that an investigation was promptly initiated upon the report of the occurrence.

A file of evidence was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service, which sanctioned the initiation of the charge against Liam McCormack.

A referral was made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which determined that the circumstances warranted a local inquiry by Avon and Somerset Police.

Alongside the criminal probe, the force announced that its Professional norms Department is conducting an inquiry into possible violations of professional conduct norms.
