In 2022, Laura Stephenson, a Rotherham Sex Offender, who engaged in sexual relations with a youngster on two occasions, was incarcerated.
Laura Stephenson, now 31, from Rotherham, engaged in “flirty” correspondence with the 15-year-old before their sexual encounter at her residence while her partner was absent.
Sheffield Crown Court was informed that the child experienced mental health challenges due to events that transpired in 2018.
Laura Stephenson, who confessed to two counts of sexual behaviour with a minor, was sentenced to 21 months in prison and placed on the sex offenders register for a duration of 10 years.
During the interview, Laura Stephenson acknowledged that the two engaged in sexual intercourse; nevertheless, she contended that it was consensual and, although feeling remorseful, sought to shift blame onto her victim, according to South Yorkshire Police.
Investigating Officer Natalie Duffy stated:
Laura Stephenson asserted that she recognised her actions were inappropriate given the boy’s age, but this awareness did not deter her.
“Instead, she offered several justifications for her immoral actions.”
She stated:
“I wish to commend the victim for the exceptional bravery he has demonstrated during the investigation and judicial process.”
Laura Stephenson, residing on Windmill Road in Rotherham, was issued a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and mandated to pay victim compensation amounting to 140.
