On Monday, 12 January 2026, the Offender Database reported that Larry Roberts, 69, of Seagry Hill, Sutton Benger, Chippenham, Wiltshire, was jailed for eight years and six months. Roberts, formerly of Boston, Lincolnshire, was sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court for a series of vile and predatory sexual offences dating back more than 20 years.
The investigation by Lincolnshire Police uncovered a campaign of abuse that began in 2004. Roberts callously targeted a vulnerable child, subjecting her to serious sexual assaults and forcing her to be present during his predatory sexual activities. Despite the passage of time, the meticulous work of the Public Protection Unit brought his evil actions to light.
Vile Abuse and Jury Verdict
Roberts dishonestly maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings, pleading not guilty and forcing his victims to endure a trial. However, after hearing the robust and serious evidence presented by the prosecution and the victims, a jury saw through his lies. On 26 November 2025, he was found guilty of:
- Five counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.
- One count of sexual assault of a child by intentional touching.
The court heard that Roberts callously used his position to manipulate the child, showing a complete lack of remorse for the serious harm he caused.
Sentence and Lifetime Prohibitions
The judge emphasised the predatory nature of Roberts’ behaviour and the lifelong trauma inflicted upon his victims. For his serious and vile crimes, Larry Roberts was:
- Sentenced to eight years and six months in prison.
- Ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.
- Subjected to an indefinite restraining order.
- Banned for life from working with children or vulnerable adults.
Monitoring and Public Protection
Roberts is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Wiltshire Police and Lincolnshire Police. His residency in Sutton Benger, Chippenham, and his past connections to Boston, Lincolnshire, will be under serious lifelong scrutiny.
The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) will ensure he is permanently barred from any role involving children. Any dishonest attempt to bypass his life-long restrictions or contact his victims will result in his immediate arrest and return to prison.
