In 2026, the Offender Database reported that Kyle Cripps, then 32, formerly of Penzance, Cornwall, and now of the West Park area of Plymouth, Devon, was sentenced to 27 months in prison. On Friday, 6 February 2026, Cripps, a former chef at the Pirate Inn in Penzance, appeared at Truro Crown Court for sentencing after admitting to multiple sexual assaults against teenage girls.

The investigation established that Cripps carried out a series of sexual assaults in West Cornwall between 2021 and 2023. The victims, aged between 14 and 17, were subjected to sexualised comments and groping. The prosecution reported that Cripps touched the girls’ breasts and bottoms both over and under their clothing, and in one instance, kissed a victim on the mouth. He “reprehensibly” told the girls he wanted to have sex with them once they turned 18 and used the excuse of being a “sex addict” to justify his conduct.

Judicial Findings and Investigative Detail

Devon and Cornwall Police launched an investigation after an older woman reported that she had to physically kick Cripps to stop him from kissing her. The court reported that the victims suffered profound psychological harm, including anxiety, depression, and difficulties trusting men. One survivor emphasised that she no longer felt safe outside her home and had turned to comfort eating as a result of the trauma.

Judge James Adkin emphasised that Cripps was a high-risk offender who “just couldn’t help himself.” It was reported that at the time of these offences, Cripps was already serving a two-year suspended sentence for similar sexual assaults committed in Plymouth against a 14 or 15-year-old girl. The judge emphasised that the previous suspended sentence had failed to act as a deterrent, as Cripps continued to target young girls while on bail and under supervision.

Sentence and Statutory Requirements

For his crimes in England, Kyle Cripps was handed:

  • Custodial Sentence: 27 months in immediate custody.
  • Sex Offenders Register: Notification requirements were activated for ten years.
  • Convictions: Pled guilty to five counts of sexual assault on a female.

Monitoring and Public Protection

Cripps is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Devon and Cornwall Police and the prison estate. Due to his history of repeat offending and his failure to comply with previous court-ordered supervision, his management is under the highest level of scrutiny by the Public Protection Unit.

As a member of the Sex Offenders Register, Cripps must comply with mandatory notification requirements regarding his future residence in Plymouth or Cornwall. Authorities state that his “reprehensible” history and the deliberate targeting of teenage girls justify the immediate custodial term. Any breach of his registration conditions or his licence terms upon release will result in his immediate arrest and return to Truro Crown Court.
