A Kendal Paedophile, Kirk Gibson, was sentenced to eight years in prison yesterday (August 4, 2025) for attempting sexual communication with a minor.
Kirk Gibson, 37, of Fowling Lane, Kendal, violated his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and committed two infractions regarding notification obligations.
He received an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, is subject to reporting requirements to law enforcement, and stays included on the sex offenders register.
On June 4, 2025, officers received a report indicating that Kirk Gibson had communicated with a decoy using an identity.
Kirk Gibson was attempting to initiate sexual connection with a decoy posing as a 13-year-old girl.
Kirk Gibson was apprehended on 4 June, and a search was conducted at his residence. A phone was discovered in a laundry basket; this gadget was unregistered with the police and violated the stipulations of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
The gadget was confiscated, revealing communications between Gibson’s pseudonym and the decoy.
A spokesperson for Cumbria’s Management of Sexual & Violent Offenders (MOSOVO) team said: “Kirk Gibson was aware of the conditions of his sexual harm prevention order, which he disregarded by communicating with a child and concealing devices in order to do so.
“Kirk Gibson poses a risk to children and we would like to reassure the community that we will continue working hard to identify any further offending by Registered Sex Offenders in the community, and bring those engaging in this criminality to justice.
“Cumbria’s MOSOVO team are committed to managing sexual offenders and will take a zero-tolerance approach against anyone found to breach the terms of these preventative orders.”
