The Offender Database reported that Kevin Hobbs, the Oban and Helensburgh Sex Offender, found himself in the dock again after sending an explicit photo of his private parts to a shocked dog groomer whom he mistakenly thought was a porn star influencer.
Kevin Hobbs, 37, pled guilty to making the image of his genitals on March 20 2025 and for causing fear or alarm to the person who received the image.
Convicted sex offender, Kevin Hobbs, who is from Oban but lives at West Princess Street, Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute, is not a first-time offender; a schedule of his previous convictions was put before the court:
- watching a family through binoculars
- sending threatening letters to a newspaper
- making an obscene gesture towards police officers
- and so on…
Sheriff Graham Penrose said, ‘You will appreciate that what you did would have caused real fear and alarm to the woman.’
It was a grossly offensive image that she had not expected to see on her business phone.
You caused distress that day. Being under the influence of alcohol is no excuse.
I am going to defer sentence for 12 months, provided you show good behaviour.
