The St Ives paedophile, Kevin Grant, who attempted to involve an individual he believed to be a 12-year-old girl in sexual conduct has been incarcerated.
Kevin Grant, 51, communicated with the ‘kid’, a decoy from an online child advocacy organisation, on January 11 and 12 of the previous year.
On Facebook and WhatsApp, Grant solicited photographs of the imaginary child and urged her to engage in sexual self-stimulation.
Kevin Grant additionally remarked on her attractiveness, employed sexual terminology, and enquired if she like to view an indecent image of himself.
Kevin Grant was apprehended at his residence in St Ives on 13 January.
On Friday (16 May), at Huntingdon Law Courts, Kevin Grant was jailed for three years and four months, having pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to attempting to cause/incite a child under to engage in sexual activity and attempted sexual communication with a child.
Kevin Grant was placed on the Sex Offenders Register and handed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
Detective Sergeant Julia Boon said: “Although Kevin Grant was not speaking to a real child on this occasion, his behaviour had the intent to cause harm so I’m glad he’s been jailed.
“Protecting children from abuse is a force priority and we will do everything we can to protect them from harm.”
