An IT Ystradgynlais Paedophile specialist, Kerry Price, at a university, systematically sexually assaulted a minor and clandestinely captured intimate photographs of her, including an “upskirting” image.
Kerry Price additionally obtained images of child sexual exploitation from the internet.
Kerry Price commenced the abuse of the kid when she was perhaps five or six years old, with the maltreatment persisting until her teenage years.
The 53-year-old defendant refuted 15 charges but was found guilty by a jury at Swansea Crown Court after a week-long trial.
A court, remanding the defendant into custody prior to his sentencing next month, requested a report on the risks Kerry Price presents to children.
The court has already heard that the sexual contact commenced when Kerry Price engaged the girl in a “coin flip” game, resulting in him kissing the girl based on the outcome of the coin toss.
Subsequently, Kerry Price engaged in inappropriate contact with the child’s genitals and breasts, both beneath and above her clothing and undergarments, occurring on numerous occasions and persisting until the girl’s adolescence.
The misconduct involved Kerry Price coercing the girl to touch his genitalia, with several incidents occurring in the defendant’s vehicle.
All the offences occurred in Swansea.
Helen Randall, representing the prosecution, stated that the abuse was not reported contemporaneously, noting that professionals within the criminal justice system are aware that victims frequently refrain from coming forward due to “embarrassment, fear of repercussions, or concerns regarding credibility.”
The offence was reported to the police following the complainant’s revelations to her grandma over Price’s conduct.
The victim’s mother was subsequently informed. Kerry Price was apprehended in August 2023, and his mobile device was confiscated. During the interview, he refuted all the charges.
The court was informed that an examination of Kerry Price’s phone revealed 25 indecent photos of children, including five Category A images depicting penetrative sexual behaviour with minors.
The phone had numerous images of the complainant captured without her knowledge or consent, including photographs of her in a bikini and an “upskirting” image.
An analysis of the phone’s internet history revealed that Kerry Price had conducted searches for terms including “naughty schoolgirl nude”.
The defendant refuted the occurrence of any sexual assaults, denied possessing a sexual interest in minors, and asserted that the complainant was aware he was photographing her.
Kerry Price, who operated computer repair shops in Ystradgynlais, Bridgend, and Dunvant in Swansea prior to his employment at Swansea University in 2018 as an IT technician, stated that the indecent images discovered on his phone had been automatically transferred to his Samsung Galaxy when he connected it to an antiquated computer tower in his garage, which was part of a collection of unclaimed customer devices remaining from his former repair enterprises.
Kerry James Price, of Tan y Farteg, Ystradgynlais, was convicted of a total of 15 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, sexual assault, making indecent images, possession of indecent images, voyeurism, and recording an image under clothing.
He has no previous convictions but has a caution for common assault and criminal damage from 2006.
The caution relates to an incident when Kerry Price punched the man, his long-term partner was having an affair with, after finding them together at home.
Judge Paul Thomas KC adjourned sentencing to September 18, saying he wanted a report into the dangers the defendant poses to children. Kerry Price was remanded into custody.
UPDATE 24.09.25
An ‘entirely immoral’ Kerry Price, an IT technician from Ystradgynlais, sexually assaulted a young girl and attempted to deflect responsibility onto a customer upon being discovered with child sexual abuse photographs on his phone.
Kerry Price, from Tan-Y-Farteg in Ystradgynlais, faced allegations of three counts of child sexual assault, five counts of sexual assault, and two counts of inducing a minor to participate in sexual conduct.
Kerry Price faced additional charges of upskirting, voyeurism, and producing an indecent photograph of a child, along with two counts of creating indecent images of children.
He was convicted of all charges during a trial at Swansea Crown Court last month.
Prosecutor Helen Randall stated that the allegations emerged in August 2023.
Authorities confiscated his mobile device and discovered that Kerry Price, an IT worker at Swansea University, possessed five Category A and twenty Category C indecent photos of minors.
His search history comprised ‘naked adolescent females’, ‘disobedient schoolgirls nude’, and ‘nude adolescent female genitalia’.
Ms Randall stated that they also discovered multiple voyeuristic photographs, including an upskirting image featuring Kerry Price’s face in the frame.
During his police interrogation, Kerry Price asserted that the photographs were transferred when he connected his phone to a customer’s laptop for charging while operating a computer repair business. He stated that he subsequently located the photographs and removed them without delay.
A digital forensic examiner stated that these images were accessed 14 times between 2021 and 2023, and he had never encountered pictures being transferred from one device to another without human input.
Kerry Price was convicted of child sexual abuse and possessing indecent photographs of minors on his phone.
Ian Wright, in mitigation, stated: “Mr Kerry Price acknowledges the jury’s convictions.”
“Before the perpetration of these offences, there was an absence of criminal activity.”
Mr Wright stated that this was 53-year-old Kerry Price’s inaugural encounter with incarceration.
“This case has been especially challenging due to the nature of the offences,” he stated.
Judge Paul Thomas KC remarked that he was unequivocally convinced that Kerry Price’s “deep-seated paedophilia” constituted “an established facet” of his existence prior to the perpetration of these acts.
He characterised Kerry Price’s conduct as “utterly depraved” and deemed his assertions regarding the indecent photos as “the most ludicrous of explanations.”
“You possess a pedophilic interest in children, and you acted upon it when the opportunity presented itself,” he stated.
He imposed a nine-year prison sentence on Kerry Price, accompanied by an additional five-year extended licence period.
Kerry Price is required to register as a lifelong sex offender and is subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order. A life-long restraining order was also imposed on him.
