Inside Limerick all-female prison, Infamous child Killer Karen Harrington has formed a bond with a mother incarcerated for selling photographs of her children to paedophile Timmy Duggan.
The overcrowding in the women’s wing of Limerick Prison has raised concerns over potential violence, as convicts are congregating in tight-knit groups.
Terrorists and transsexual women are being detained in overcrowded conditions.
A source said the groups are being formed to create more cell space, but added: “It’s getting dangerous because you never know when they will turn on one another or a staff member.”
Due to congestion, prisoners are required to share cells, while a newly constructed wing sits unoccupied.
According to sources, child murderer Karen Harrington is acquainted with a lady incarcerated for selling photographs of her children to paedophile Timmy Duggan. The duo frequently engages in physical activity together.
They belong to a group that includes another woman in custody, awaiting trial for a grave offence against a child.
Karen Harrington was convicted last year for the murder of two-year-old Santina Cawley at her Cork flat in July 2019.
At the apex of the prison hierarchy are the two female terrorists currently incarcerated together in Limerick Prison – ISIS affiliate and ex-soldier Lisa Smith and dissident republican assassin Rose Lynch.
They possessed individual cells but maintained a harmonious relationship and consented to share to create additional space.
Lisa Smith, sentenced to 15 months last May, is anticipated to be released by April, whereas Rose Lynch is serving a life sentence for murder.
Charlotte Mulhall, one of the prison’s most notorious inmates, has not formed any partnerships.
Charlotte Mulhall is receiving a life sentence for the murder of her mother’s abusive lover, Farah Swaleh Noor, whose dismembered remains were discovered in Dublin’s Royal Canal in 2005.
Charlotte Mulhall, Ireland’s longest-serving female inmate, has recently been permitted escorted outings from the prison to visit relatives.
A further issue for prison personnel is the presence of two transgender women who are segregated from the other detainees.
Barbie Kardashian, convicted last year of issuing threats to harm her mother, is scheduled for sentencing next month in Limerick Circuit Court. He is a biological male who has undergone neither hormone treatment nor surgery, and has made threats to kill and rape women.
Another transgender woman, whose identity is withheld to save the victim, is incarcerated for sexually assaulting a youngster and issuing threats to fracture their limbs.
The newly constructed women’s block is a component of a €60 million upgrade at Limerick Prison. It has remained unused due to issues with the sewage system and complaints regarding odours.
The block will remain partially closed until the second quarter of the current year.
