A LLanishen Rapist, Justin Saliba, who sexually assaulted and raped a woman subsequently attempted to assert that she had imagined the assault has been incarcerated.
Justin Saliba, 50, from LLanishen, was sentenced to incarceration at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday, August 18.
The offence occurred in 2021 at his flat, where Justin Saliba exploited his victim while she was asleep. The victim awoke to discover him assaulting her and fled after the incident.
She informed her family, who subsequently reached out to South Wales Police, prompting the initiation of an investigation by the police.
Justin Saliba was apprehended and indicted for rape and sexual assault; however, he entered a plea of not guilty, asserting that the victim had conflated a dream with reality.
A jury discerned his falsehoods, resulting in a guilty verdict and subsequent remand in custody after the trial.
Justin Saliba was sentenced to 11 years in prison and must serve a minimum of two-thirds of that term before becoming eligible for release on licence. He will remain a registered sex offender for the entirety of his life.
